  Myrtle Beach, SC, USA

  I went to Myrtle Beach with a couple of my friends. The drive was pretty long considering I was coming from Northern Virginia.. When we got there it was pretty much all boardwalk with lots of shops. Cheap food and lots of people( girls) is what kept us there for the week.. If you do happen to go and enjoy the clubbing scene, then you should check out club "Kryptonite".

  Unless you love crowds of humanity and endless rows of T-shirt shops, you'll want to find your beach destination outside of Myrtle. No longer the fun fantasy shown in the movie "Shag," Myrtle is a very commercial seaside community. Go a little farther south and try Pawley's Island, which is fun, friendly and far less crowded.

  Myrtle Beach, S.C., always had a reputation. Sure, its white sandy beaches attracted visitors from all over, but the city was really known for its honky-tonk. A blue-collar vacation location, or “Dirty Myrtle,” it was oh-so-affectionately called. But as the ocean tides change, so does the city; and as new sandbars pop up along the beaches, luxurious hotels emerge across the main drags. Gradually, the older, run-down areas of town are being replaced with attractions designed to rope in a whole new breed of tourist. The new Myrtle Beach visitor enjoys the finer parts of life—upscale accommodations, fine cuisine, and amenities that create the ultimate relaxing experience. However, this new visitor—who often travels with children—also enjoys themed entertainment, from miniature golf, to NASCAR racing, to water parks and aquariums. He or she may watch the Dolly Parton show at Dixie Stampede one night, and attend the award-winning Carolina Opry the next. Such is the duality of Myrtle Beach.

  Amid the 60+ miles of sandy beaches are over 100 quality golf courses (it seems like 1000 because they are everywhere you look) - it's easy to find "all inclusive" golf packages and holidays specifically designed for the golf enthusiast. BUT, golf is not the only thing in Myrtle Beach - there are plenty of family and singles activities and "touristy" (although I do not believe that's a word) things to do. I would suggest a round of golf, dinner at Bimini's Oyster Bar and wrap up the night at Studebaker's... that's a day that can't be beat!!
