  Polo in the Hamptons

  If DC had a Hamptons close by, I'd be loving every summer! This past summer, I visited the Hamptons with some of my closest friends to celebrate their birthdays. What's really awesome about the Hamptons is that it is over the top chi-chi, but also completely relaxed all in one. The place is packed with celebrities, some of whom I'm sure I didn't recognize at the time. We ran into Barbara Walters in Southampton lunching with a girl friend of hers and Lindsay Lohan's dad at the polo match. When I lived in New York City a few years ago, my friends and I had a summer share in a cottage in Amagansett. My favorite thing to do was go to the polo matches. The tradition held up for years until this past year where the polo field was sold to developers to build a new vacation home community. Sigh! So sad! But we managed to catch the very last polo match ever and relive old champagne and horsie memories, which was lovely, dahling. Just lovely!

  Manolo Blahniks on the Beach!

  Ever tried wearing Manolo Blahniks to the beach? Yah, I thought, man I need some sweet kicks for the Hamptons. So, before I left DC for my big weekend trip, with my “sugar daddy,” I hit Neimans with his credit card and spent like a grand and a half buying a bag and my new “beach pumps” and a barely there bikini (I already had Chanel sunglasses). My goal was to turn heads on the beach with my new fashion. Fast forward 15 hours…The reality of my purchases: me falling all over myself trying to get to my beach chair set-up. Ever tried setting up a beach chair in pumps? In all honesty, putting the Hamptons’ reputation for glitz and glamour aside, the Hamptons’ beaches are beautiful, the locals welcoming and the restaurants and clubs inviting. If I ever have the chance to get back to the Hamptons, I will skip the trip to Neimans and make sure I pack the paddle ball set, an athletic swim suit and cocktail dress (for the evening).
